And Let the Light Shine Down

On December 1, 2010, the University of Southern Mississippi hosted their fourth annual christmas celebration.  The event is called Lighting the Way, and it is free to the public.  After asking a few friends, it is said that the program improves every year.  This year was very eventful and fun to watch.  There were performers, free hot cocoa, and the opportunity to take a photo with Santa.  Everyone around was excited with Christmas cheer.
The main sight is the tall, lit tree.  If memory serves me correct, the tree stands at 30 feet tall!  Also, thirty small trees were decorated around the entrance of the school; each tree was decorated by different student organizations.  Each organization sponsors a tree in order to raise money for the event, and the money goes to a non-profit organization.  This year the money went to a housing assistance program called Carpenter's Helper.  It was announced that around $3,000 was raised this year.
